Standard Acts

STANDARD ACTS

Karin and Arlo are friends. One is stronger; the other remembers their lines.

Standard Acts is a live art exploration of how power manifests in our relationships. Smashing together wrestling matches, stand up comedy, Greek myths and an eclectic soundtrack on a tape-deck, Standard Acts considers how power shows up with the people we love.

Featuring two performers, Karin McCracken and Arlo Gibson, Standard Acts is a durational live experience that hinges on repeated rounds of wrestling. The work premiered in the New Zealand Fringe 2021 at BATS Theatre, and in the Auckland Fringe 2021 at Basement Theatre.

Standard Acts was the first show programmed as part of Basement Theatre’s new co-production model. The work would not have been possible without this support. Standard Acts was also supported by Massey University, Wellington City Council, BATS Theatre, NZ Fringe Kakano Funding, and Creative New Zealand.
